Hmmm...Is the Xbox really that good?

I had a 'discussion' with my friend a few days ago and he made some very good points about the PS3. With what he has said, I am a bit worried that in the not-too-distant future, the PS3 could end up with more exclusives and better games than the 360 and therefore cause Microsoft to take further action on the 360.Here are the points he made which I agreed with:
 • GIVETHE PS3 A FEW YEARS AND IT WILL GET A BETTER CHOICE OF GAMES. THE XBOX 360 ONLY HAS A BETTER CHOICE NOW BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR OVER A YEAR LONGER.
 • PAY?00 ($600) FOR A BLU-RAY PLAYER AND BUILT IN WI-FI
 • THE ACCESSORIES FOR THE 360 ADD UP TO MORE THAN THE PRICE OF A PS3, WHICH ARE ALL INCLUDED.
 • 66% OF ALL XBOX'S BREAK (It's not that high now surely?)
 • GTA VI HAD TO BE BROKEN DOWN AND MADE WORSE BECAUSE THE 360 WASN'T POWERFUL ENOUGH TO RUN A BIGGER GAME.
 • FOR ELITE OWNERS (like myself) 120 GB IS FAR TOO BIG AND YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO FILL IT UP.
Before you start burning me for making stupid points that are discussed over and over again, i would just like your opinions on these points, and how you would answer in reply to these.
Hmmm...Is the Xbox really that good?
i have both and finding myself getting more Xbox360 games. Like 4 to every 1 PS3 game. Happy with my 360 Elite and its big HDHmmm...Is the Xbox really that good?
I'll just counter some of those points rather than ramble for so many paragraphs. These will be in the order you posted them.

- The PS3 may improve its catalogue of games eventually, but that doesnt negate the fact that the 360's will continue to expand aswell. But at the present it still has loads more exclusives to play now, who wants to wait years to get some decent games? No one.

- The 360 doesnt need the wifi adaptor, so why include it if it ramps up the price, I'd rather have the choice to get it, as with blu ray.

- Again, you get the choice to get the various accesories, but the only expensive one is the HD DVD player which no one buys. You don't need anything else out the box with the 360, it's your choice if you want various accesories.

- The 360 is getting a new heat sync chip, meaning that the only common breakage with the 360 (3 red lights), will be extremely rare.

- GTA IV was never toned down for the 360, surely RockStar would have just included it in the PS3 version rather than essentially through away their work. That's a lie.

- The hard drive may be too big, but that means you have plenty of storage space for HD movies, games, songs and demos from the market place.

Hope that clears of few things up.

Those are excellent replies! Now if only my friend had considered these before launching straight into the PS3 because 'it's better value for money and you have free online play!'Plus the HD DVD player is now ?0 in some shops.
You bet your ass it is.Thank you kamikaze.
This should probably go in system wars.Anyway, I disagree with some of those points. First, the ps3 has been out for roughly 1.5 yrs. The 360 had A LOT more quality games available at 1.5yrs. Second, the accessories for the 360 do not add up to more than the price of the ps3 either. Basically with the 360 there is no accessories needed in order to enjoy your system in HD. With the ps3 on the other hand you need to purchase a HDMI or component cable to enjoy the system in HD, seeing as the systme only comes with the composite cable packed in. Third, GTA IV was not ''broken down'' or ''made worse'' for the 360. Both experiences are nearly identically with the 360 having sharper graphics and the ps3 having more pedestrians on screen at once. Finally 120 GB is not ''far too big''. I could fill 100 GB up with music easy.
1) sure the xbox 360 will be getting more games but not AAAs....but ps3 will be getting more AAAs2) sure u might not need wifi but others do....like me i dont want wires running around my home...that would suck but if was to get it for my xbox that would cost me 99.99@of bestbuy....and blu-ray is there for a reson...it gives developers 50GB of free space to work with and produce games like MGS4....if u have hdtv and u watch a blu-ray in it then u will know wat i am talking about.3) sure u get a choice to wat u buy but only a wifi would cost me 99.99..let alone everything else..ex= 20gb hard drive 99.99, play and charge kit is for 22.99......etc4) if the xbox was to get new heat syncs...that would have happend years before..wat makes u think that they will do it now??5) i dont know about the toning down of gta4 but all i know is that the revewers were favoring the ps3 version6) hard drive is big but if u dont need to use all of it then its useless

You're obviously not well informed and are just blindly countering arguments.

New Heat Sync Chip

Get your facts straight next time...
This belongs in system wars.........and as far as your post....Yes, in my opinion, the Xbox 360, is really ''that'' good.I'm not going to indulge your post with a rebuttal to your claims, however I will say that
regardless of the 360's flaws, some of us just prefer the 360. It's all about preferences....I could care less about what others like or dislike, all I care about is my own personal gaming experience which I choose to invest into the 360...simply, because that is MY preference. :P
i agree with this guy completely and for more stuff for gta its called downloadable content... GTA will come out with stuff that u can download like cars and stuff
your friends make some good points
Better more stable connection if you don't go wireless. Safer as well.66% percent, I thought it was 66.3587% - It was very high, I've always said it was. But I'm not quite sure how you friend or you came up with an actual number. I could be wrong but just recently even IGN reported a very wide margin of what they thought the number might be. I'm guessing 66% is completely a guesstament by you or your friend.Exclusives are preference. Personally I don't like at least 80 to 90 percent of the Sony exclusives so i'd say that's a moot point. Even if Sony did get more exclusives, if they're not to my liking ... who cares. Also that's not saying they will, but if they did.I'd much rather play 5 exclusives I like then have to pick between 50 I don't.I'd never have nor ever will use any gaming console for a DVD/HD-DVD/Blue Ray player as it just wears it out quicker. Once worn down I'd be without the ability to watch my movies or play my games. Maybe it's just me but I hate putting all my eggs in one basket.

(GIVE THE PS3 A FEW YEARS AND IT WILL GET A BETTER CHOICE OF GAMES. THE XBOX 360 ONLY HAS A BETTER CHOICE NOW BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR OVER A YEAR LONGER.)I've never understood this argument. The PS3 is going on 2 years old now. How long will this excuse hold up? The PS2 had a head start on the Dreamcast and Original Xbox. Where was this argument then? The PS1 and PS2 had a HUGE library. And that was something Sony relied on for years when another console maker was ever mentioned. If the 360 only has a better choice now because of its head start, then i can only assume thats why the PS1 and PS2 had better choices? Thats how ridiculous that argument sounds to me.(PAY?00 ($600) FOR A BLU-RAY PLAYER AND BUILT IN WI-FI)I'd prefer an option. I have a PS3 but i use a wired connection because i always have problems staying connected wirelessly. Offer a PS3 for $300 without the Wi-Fi and Blu-Ray and see how fast they sell. (THE ACCESSORIES FOR THE 360 ADD UP TO MORE THAN THE PRICE OF A PS3, WHICH ARE ALL INCLUDED.)Again this comes down to having the options to pay for it or not. Sony forces you to pay for all those accessories if you want them or not. I have no use for Wi-Fi, so thats $100 im saving right there with the 360. Im paying for it on the PS3 even though ill never use it. I do think the 360 should have had a better rechargeable controller. I love the PS3s set-up. (66% OF ALL XBOX'S BREAK)Thats just a lie. It is higher than any other console in history, thats the truth. But its closer to 15-30% depending on who you believe. And even though the issues are supposedly being fixed, it is taking longer than it should have in my opinion.(GTA VI HAD TO BE BROKEN DOWN AND MADE WORSE BECAUSE THE 360 WASN'T POWERFUL ENOUGH TO RUN A BIGGER GAME.)Another lie. Its not even an exaggeration, its just flat out not true. As a matter of fact, according to THIS ARTICLE, the VP of product development for Rockstar Jeronimo Barrera, said the release of GTAIV was delayed due to issues with the PS3.(FOR ELITE OWNERS (like myself) 120 GB IS FAR TOO BIG AND YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO FILL IT UP.)I dont have an issue with this. I buy alot of game content, arcade games, and TV shows which stay on your harddrive forever unlike movie rentals, and they take up a good amount of space. It will take awhile to fill, but i have no doubt ill fill it, (46 gigs left). However, ive already had to upgrade my PS3 harddrive. 60+ gigs of mandatory installs dont help. When you spend the kind of money on that system, that should have everything, i certainly didnt expect to be upgrading it in the first year.Basically it all comes down to preference. I prefer the 360, but i dont hate my PS3 either. But if someone feels the need to ''defend'' the PS3, there must be a reason for it. Maybe it needs defending?
Both the PS3 and Xbox are good,IF i had to get one it would probably be the 360 because the Live is top notch.
Agree with Cortana this belongs in system wars...It sounds like people are trying to be a little sly and come to the xbox forums to talk about how great the ps3 is. I found it funny that after he said that kamikaze made a good point, he talks a little bit more about why the ps3 is a better value. ''Those are excellent replies! Now if only my friend had considered these before launching straight into the PS3 because 'it's better value for money and you have free online play!'''
Is it just me or did he even put the quote in bold? Anyway, i think the 360 is that great. I don't care about power in a console, i care about the games and the experience. I got the 360 because i play tons of games online and the 360 has the greatest online community (which justifies why i am paying for xbox live)

As for GTA4, the 360's version runs at 720p and the PS3's runs at 640p. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,145346-c,games/article.html
