Alright, i have a new xbox (about 5 months old) and suddenly i just got the 3 ROD. This happened for about 30 seconds and after that i turned on my xbox and it works perfectly. I have a cooler on my xbox and its out in open space were it can breath. Im just wondering if this is a one time thing or a pernament problem. Thanks, 3ROD help!
dude, your first problem is the cooler. It kills the system pretty much. dont ask me why but thats what I herd. Its probely that your outlet might be weird. cause mine in my room is even though my house is only 7 years old. Cause I pushed a chair into the cord making the power cord to wiggle a bit in the outlet. BAM! tv went black and i got 3 RINGS not 4! Here is my advise. 1. Keep it on a table or something. NOT ON THE CARPET! Cloggs the fans. 2. Give it A LOT of breathing room. mine has 6 inches in back and nothing around it besides my tv 3 inches away from it. 3. Use a surge protector? not that having it pluged into the wall is dangerous i just havent had any problems yet with using one. My guess is that it had something to do with the power. But know that i think of it i did have a problem when i popped in san adreas. it did that even before loading anything.. SORRY I WROTE ALOT AND HAVE SO MANNY SPACES, LOL. BUT I WOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT IT. now if you freeze and get a checkerd screen.. THATS a major sign that the end is coming.. 3ROD help!
Yeah he's right, the cooler draws too many volts, is a piece of crap and will actually fuse your xbox to the cooler and bye bye xbox. Its not good for your power brick either, and its just horrible for the console. Just keep it as is and you'll be fine until it naturally breaks in its 7 month life cycle lol.
elite destroyer you are completely right i have had mine on a glass table with about a good 2 feet of breathing room for about a year and a half no problems since.

Thanks,
If you got the 3RROD then you should definately send it in for repair, death is approaching. I've had mine come back from the brink for a day, only to die again, come back again, and die again. It was like a zombie.
the seven month cycle isnt true!! is it??? I got mine December 16, 2007 and I got my xbox back from repair during the call of duty 4 beta which was exactally a month without an xbox.. so whenever the beta was, it was a month or so before that when it died.
It's impossible for any Xbox 360 to get 3 Red Rings of Death.

But that just means that there was a significant decline in voltage or something like that? or like it droped significantly like when the lights dimm during a thunder storm or something. you could probley even try it right now and it would happen.

With my 360, I got the RROD, then it worked later...then it was RROD again...then it would work fine..but it the problems became more frequent until it was always on the RROD, and thus...broken. I'd call in for repairs.

but to the TC i just got my 3 rings too......not surprised....ive had my 360 since launch.....and since those processors were most at risk for overheating im surprised it lasted this long.....probably because i kept my 360 on one of those air rack things that you hang on the wall.....so it had lots of natrual ventilation.....u should try and find a good spot where its can get a lot of air....most or less just not scrunched up in some corner....
I would say if you get it more than once call in for repair cuz if had mine have it a few times but thats cuz the power cord fell 3 feet slammed my 360 into the wall and scratched my mass effect to hell, outlet issues and just a random one. but it works great and havent had it happen for months.
 ahhhh i guess your right....the original term was 3 red lights....but i guess some how it got mixed in with rings and became 3 red rings  ....but if anything it should be called the Red Ring of Death but on the other hand if you think about it an x360 can die from red-ring-itis and be revived 3 times not plausible:| but possible:D
I've always wondered why people called them red rings...
